Alona Tal

Alona Tal, an Israeli American actor and singer was born October 20, 1983 in Herzliya. Her professional career began shortly as a soldier as a member of the Israeli Defense Forces. Her breakthrough came in 2003 when she appeared in an Israeli film. In addition to her appearances in Israeli films, she recorded several songs with Subliminal. Tal was able to move in with her sister in New York to take a break from her career. She teamed up with Haitian artist Wyclef Jean on the hit song "Party to Damascus". She also established herself as a star on American television, beginning by playing a recurring character in the series Veronica Mars: She originally tried out for the lead role but the show's creator Rob Thomas wrote a new character exclusively for her. Tal eventually earned a regular position in the CBS series. Starred in two television programs in Israel before making the move to New York. Wyclef Jean recorded a hit song. Hebrew is her mother tongue. Second choice for the role of Veronica in Veronica Mars (2004).Originally auditioned for Veronica Mars (2004) and was Rob Thomas' second choice to play the title role. Thomas liked her so much that he made the role of Meg Manning specifically for her. She was part of the Israel Defense Forces. Both her parents are Jews--her father is Turkish/Jewish and mother is Polish/Jewish. She is Adrian Monk's spouse, who was murdered in the finale episode of Monk (2002).
