Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell, an American television chef and the former Institute of Culinary Education instructor she is a popular TV host. She is the host of Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and is also co-hosting Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and bubbly personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers straightforward, simple techniques to master for home cooks on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in several of the most prestigious eateries within New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy, and battled on Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in Upstate New York, Chef Burrell was captivated by cooking and food from an early age. The Culinary Institute of America was the next stage for her after she graduated with the Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication in the fall of 2004 from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America is a wonderful experience. It was difficult to master how to do, or even work hard enough. After graduation, chef Burrell was able to spend a full year in Italy studying at an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working for La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a one Michelin-starred restaurant located in Tuscany. In her time in Italy she came to be aware of the philosophy behind Italian food and culture that made a lasting impression on her culinary perspective. Burrell is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that helps brighten the lives of struggling children. She also is a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Celebrity Advocate, where she promotes awareness of young diabetics. As an inspirational speaker, she makes trips across the country to share her passion for cuisine and to promote her professional career as a chef. Through her culinary adventures, Anne has often said that I am very fortunate to share my passion in life with others.
